The purpose of the SOS Rain application is to provide information about a subject that is of interest to scientists, namely, precipitation. The application will be used to measure, analyze and forecast rainfall.
It is developed by the Institute for Tropical Physics (INPE) and the Center for Physics of the Tropical Environment (CPTEC) and is used for research purposes.
The tool uses the concept of a raindrop to measure the amount of water that falls in a given time. It is a device that will record the amount of precipitation, as well as the time of the day and the location.
This tool can also be used to analyze rainfall and determine its parameters, such as the amount of rainfall, the amount of water that falls per hour, the amount of water that falls per day, the length of the rain period, the time of the day and the location.
The application is also capable of forecasting the amount of rainfall for the next day and the length of the rain period. It can also be used to monitor rainfall in real-time.
