VipsWallet is a free online wallet that allows users to upload money, spend money, and transfer money. There is also a prime membership for earned rewards, and seller functions that allows merchants to take payments for items with QR codes, as well as allowing them to receive payments online.
This is an e-wallet mobile app similar to what you may get with Easypaisa and banking apps like HDFC Bank MobileBanking. However, this app also offers discounts on retail items and cash back on everything from bills to mobile phone plans.
VipsWallet is a reseller only. If you need a refund for a product or service, then VipsWallet can give you a helpline, but that is all they will do. They do not offer buyer protection or warranty, which means you cannot conduct a chargeback with VipsWallet.
Call center staff are pushed to make sales and will resort to tactics like claiming a customer is overdrawn or otherwise owes money. Ignore any phone calls from VipsWallet unless they were requested by you. Their affiliates also get your phone number when you buy, so the caller may not even be VipsWallet.
The money is handled and sometimes transferred by banks, but the communication between the bank systems and this e-wallet are sometimes very bad. This means that if a payment is rejected by a bank, it will still show as paid on the app until several/tens of hours later.
This online wallet app hides information that should be openly available. They put it in the small print on their developer website. This includes information on who actually handles the money, how they are mobile phone plan resellers, how they have no warranty, and very punishing buyer-unfriendly terms.
